About Us
For more than two hundred years, that is to say since its independence, Haiti has never been in such a state: insecurity is at its highest level; 80% of the capital has fallen into the hands of armed gangs who loot, rape and kill with impunity; three out of five women/girls have already been victims of these attacks; four departments are cut off from the capital. This only worsens the economic situation which, moreover, following the violent earthquake of January 12, 2010, was already deplorable.
The most vulnerable populations are plunged into the most abject misery. According to the latest estimates by international organizations, more than half of the Haitian population lives below the poverty line. It is therefore by considering this gloomy picture that the Cornerstone Accommodation Center, together with the OMES, the Salem Evangelical Ministry Organization, intends to work twice as hard this year, to try to alleviate this scourge that affects Haitians, especially children and youth, one of the most affected categories. Founded in 2015, under the leadership of Rev. Pastor DESHOMME Elius, CHEDPA selected a group of needy children and young people in the Blue Hills housing area, a
slum located on the outskirts of Cap-Haitian, to accompany them in the field of education, nutrition, health, and especially in their personal development.
With the limited means at our disposal, several dozen children receive at the beginning of each school year a Kit containing, uniform, notebooks and pens; And on each commemorative day, national or international, they participate in a special training on the subject in question, crowned by a moment of sharing a hot dish and drinks.
This year, in addition to the regular activities we have just mentioned, we want to start the construction of the Centre's premises, with a view to accommodating about a hundred children during the first year, and giving them an attractive space where they can flourish.
Words of the President and Founder of CHEDPA:
I grew up with the desire to help, the fact that my parents, especially my mother, were obsessed with what is now called "helping the poor". When my father, who was the main provider of the family of six children, died, our economic situation had become disastrous, despite everything my mother never lost sight of her primary objective which was to help the weakest. We have known misery; the Madan Sara that was my mother worked as a father and mother to raise her children. At Cité Lescot where I lived, I met children who, in my opinion, had needed a certain amount of support, I would even say a certain amount of support. To do this, I nurtured the idea of helping these children so that they would not suffer as I did after the death of my father, after God made me prosper. This is how I created CHEDPA with the aim of assisting those in need.
I don't want them to fail in life; that these girls are abused; I don't see them becoming gang members and leaders. I was lucky enough to be raised in a Christian family, I was not eaten up by a bad entourage to the point of choosing banditry, but many do not have this opportunity, and will surely not have it; I want them to have a better future. What God has invested in me, I want to put at the service of the most vulnerable for the good of Haiti and the whole world.
May God bless Haiti, may he bless the young people and the children, may he bless CHEDPA.
